We focus on building effective speaking and strategic skills for high school students of all levels of experience. We provide the students with the opportunity to learn from collegiate mock trial competitors and law school students. We offer a dynamic program consisting of interactive lectures, trial advocacy drills, stop-and-go scrimmages and 6-8 practice rounds at the courthouse.
Past attendees have won 2022 and 2023 National Judicial Competition (NJC). In, 2024, members of Trinity HS who attended the camp placed 2nd at NJC. Additionally, past students have won best advocate and best witness awards at the regional, state and national levels.
Middle school students will have the opportunity to investigate a crime from the moment it is discovered and then turn over the evidence to team of prosecutors. Students will learn law enforcement techniques in building search, crime scene investigation, and evidence collection. Additionally, they will learn what needs to happen for the defendant to be prosecuted in court. Students will conduct a mini mock trial to determine the defendant’s guilt. At the end of the week, students will tour the Dallas police headquarters and the Dallas County Courthouse.
Elementary students (4th-6th) will collaborate in teams, innovating, and creating projects. When we were creating this camp, we thought DI meets Project Runway. It’s going to be so much fun, we’re trying to figure out a way to create an adult version.
Our camp curriculum has been battle tested in classrooms and in a separate 1 to 1 counseling service. It's been designed to help a student, wherever they're starting, create a compelling, coherent application.
